"Dr. Nikki": The Healing Hugger

Dr. Nikki Gorman is not your average pediatrician. With a passion for service, a love for children, and a knack for entrepreneurship, she has dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of her patients and the community. Born and raised in sunny Southern California, specifically Torrance and Palos Verdes, Dr. Gorman's journey in medicine began at the University of Pennsylvania, where she double majored in English and Biology and founded Penn Pals, a remarkable organization that connected underserved community children in need with Penn students.

After graduating cum laude, Dr. Gorman continued her pursuit of knowledge at Duke University for medical school, where she not only honed her medical skills but also discovered her passion for basketball. As a true fan of the game, she proudly supports the Duke Blue Devils! With roots in North Carolina (including both the Plott Hound and a Cherokee medicine woman !) she cherished her 5 years in the Carolinas. But her heart yearned for the golden shores of California, and she was thrilled to match at the Stanford Pediatric program in Palo Alto. It was during her blissful three years in NoCal that she earned the nickname "Continuity Queen" for her unwavering dedication to providing consistent, high-quality care to her patients. Dr. Gorman's love for healing and hugging knows no bounds! She also took time to hone her Spanish (one of her dreams is to speak Spanish fluently)

Post training and seeking new challenges, Dr. Gorman and her then husband Dr. David Lomnitz embarked on a journey to New York City, where she started a fellowship for the underserved. When the program didn't meet her expectations, she made the difficult decision to leave and joined forces with Weill Cornell to establish their first West Side pediatric practice. This experience ignited her passion for both the medical and business sides of medicine.

After five fulfilling years in NYC, Dr. Gorman found herself in Weston, CT, where she joined Children's Health Service, led by the remarkable Dr. Gerry Lieberman. As Dr. Lieberman retired, Dr. Gorman and a colleague decided to move the practice to Westport and founded Village Pediatrics, a dream practice for both patients and physicians. Embracing the slogan "It takes a village," Dr. Gorman is committed to providing exceptional care, educating the community, and advocating for the well-being of all children.

Dr. Gorman's dedication extends beyond the walls of her practice. She actively participates in various community organizations, including serving as a pediatrician at ABC House in Westport and as a board member for Earthplace, Westport Pride, Unite the World for Africa and The County Assembly. Dr. Gorman's mission to spread crucial information to keep children safe and healthy has led her to become a TikTok (and instagram) sensation with her account, @drnikki__, reaching audiences worldwide. If she saves even one child by saying things like “no magnets ever or raw nuts!” it will all have been worth it.

In her spare time, Dr. Gorman has been a dedicated Girl Scout leader for 12 years, helping three girls achieve their Gold Awards. She is also the creative mind behind the storywalk behind Village Pediatrics, a delightful space where children can enjoy stories in a fun format after their appointments. In her spare time she loves reading, walking, her dogs Kobe and Bill, adventuring and hiking.

Dr. Nikki Gorman truly embodies the spirit of a healer, a hugger, and an advocate for children's health. With her warm heart and entrepreneurial spirit, she continues to make a positive impact on the lives of her patients, their families, and the community as a whole. JSYK though- she isn’t for everyone! But most people love her and her open book spirit.
